The best way to predict what’s to come in 2025 is to look back and consider what’s been before, particularly in the last few years.
Not only have costs risen, but we’re thinking a lot more about where our money goes and where it is better to invest it than in our home?
After all, we’re spending a lot more time indoors, and if we’re not lucky enough to have a personal study or office, working from our bedrooms has become the norm for those in a smaller living space or sharing it with others.
If you’re keen to spend some time and money on your bedroom, here are some of the ways best ways to go about it in 2025:
1. Canopy beds
While minimalism has enjoyed a long run in the bedroom, it’s clear that more and more people are ready for a change, so let’s start this blog with a bang!
When we think of canopy or four-poster beds, we tend to think of aristocracy and over-the-top grandeur, but while we’ve been busy fawning over minimalist farmhouse aesthetic, the canopy bed frame has been made a comeback.

Gone are the ornate wood frames, replaced with something simplified but far from what you’d call minimalist. Clean, bold lines arrive in their place, but look great in colour, too; giving structure and separation to different areas of the room while neatly framing your throw cushions and layered blankets.
All that said, we’ve still got a soft spot for the more traditional look, too, so if you’ve got the spare cash (and space) – why not?
2. All out wallpapering
Wallpapered feature walls might not be as in vogue as they used to be, but what we can take from them is the way they can change the shape of a room.
While this semi-restrained approach has been widespread, it might be time for more unfettered self-expression. And what better way to do it than with gorgeous layers of patterned wallpaper?
This bolder approach may seem to go against creating a relaxing space, but with the right combination of patterns, even a somewhat dull, awkward space can feel much warmer and cosier.
Colour drenching
If wallpaper seems like too far a step from the muted neutrals of the past few years, we understand. What you might prefer is a colour-drenching approach.
Colour-drenching combines the best aspects of neutral and high-texture decor by using several shades of the same colour, providing the uniformity of neutrals while providing subtle variation and depth of a textured wall otherwise.
This slightly more restrained approach is perfect for the bedroom while keeping you in complete control of the colours you use. ‘But what colours?!’ we hear you ask…
Warm, moody, and earthy tones
While it could be argued that moody hues haven’t been on trend since the early 2000s, all we know is, people are getting more comfortable with the idea of using darker colours in the home, and where better to do so than in the bedroom?
Darker, moodier colours gently remind our brain that it’s time to wind down and get some well-earned shut-eye, meaning it’s not only aesthetically pleasing but also practical!
While any darker tone will do, if you want your bedroom space to feel cosier, warmer tones will also aid your brain in feeling this way.
Think deep, brown, oranges, reds and even olive greens. However, if you want a cooler, more stately feel, forest green or midnight blue will also have a calming effect on the mind.

3. Personal touches
There are all sorts of reasons to keep neutral spaces within your home. With living rooms and kitchens often acting as family hub spots, it’s usually best to keep them reasonably neutral in look and feel to maintain a suitable atmosphere for whatever activity may occur and maintain the room’s functionality.
However, the bedroom should hold no such inhibitions. While we typically think of the bedroom as only for sleep, it’s arguably the room in our homes where we are our most vulnerable selves. Therefore, the space should feel comfortable and personal, filled with items that remind us of the people, places and interests that make us who we are.
This means family heirlooms, handmade items, or even bookshelves with your favourite reads. By providing bursts of colour at minimal cost, personalised items bring an unobtrusive focal point to otherwise neutral bedroom spaces.
4. Adding some greenery
If you just can’t quite get away from neutral colours on your walls or would prefer not to commit to painting just yet, there is another way: plants, plants, and more plants.
Known as ‘biophilic decor’, it refers to decorating your home with living things, and is a great way to give your bedroom a serious boost of green.
Very much on trend, greens, with splashes of colour and texture from vines, shoots and flowering buds, can be the perfect combination for a home’s decor, while your choice of plant pots provides further intrigue.

Not only do plants look great, but they also have health benefits. Plants in your bedroom can purify and detoxify the air while reducing stress and illness, further promoting quality sleep.
Finally, if the plants get too much, and the room starts to feel too small or too dark, fear not. Installing a large mirror can provide extra dimensions, light, and a clean-lined focal point for your bedroom.
5. Better storage
While 2025 appears to be all about minimalism, this doesn’t mean we should succumb to clutter instead. What is clear is that in 2025, we’re taking more time to curate our living spaces than ever, choosing furniture, ornaments, and decor that feel connected and deliberate.
To this end, having the appropriate storage spaces to make room for the items that aren’t the right fit is essential.
Whilst fitted wardrobes are brilliant for maximising space, it’s what goes inside that really matters. Pop in some clever shelving units for your jumpers and shoes, or opt for proper drawer units to keep your smalls tidy. It’s amazing how much difference proper storage makes to keeping your bedroom looking clean and tidy
Whether you’re looking for a statement vintage dresser for a functional display piece or prefer something a little more subtle and customisable, like a sliding wardrobe, making the most of your space and keeping it close to your vision is essential.
Trends come and go, but what’s most important when choosing a design approach for your bedroom is remaining faithful to your needs and lifestyle. Choose wisely, but don’t be afraid to take a chance on something new!
