6 Things That Should Be in Every Man's Wardrobe

mans-wardrobe.jpgThe contents of a person’s wardrobe is a reflection of their own style and personality but there are some staple items that everyone should have. In this first of a series of blog posts we are going to look at the few items that every man’s wardrobe should contain.

Suit - Dark Grey or Navy

Even if you only need it once or maybe twice a year a suit is a must have item for every man’s wardrobe. Dark grey or navy are widely regarded as the best options when it comes to colour as they are the most neutral meaning they are good for almost any occasion. Black or lighter coloured suits are great and serve their purposes but aren’t nearly as versatile. Obviously, if you can justify it, a choice of suits is great but if there is only room in your life for one go for grey or navy.

White Dress Shirt

Formal shirts come in a whole variety of colours and styles but the staple that every man needs is a smart white dress shirt. Unlike the more colourful options, a white shirt can go with anything making it perhaps the most versatile part of any wardrobe. They should only be worn in formal situations though, never casually.

Black Belt and Shoes

This is a combination that everyone should have. Brown has become the colour of choice for many over recent years but nothing is quite as versatile as black. Black shoes go with just about anything, formal or casual and a matching belt is a necessity in many cases.

A Selection of Ties

Your choice of tie can drastically impact the overall look of your formal wear. If you keep the rest of your clothing quite neutral, a tie can be the perfect way to inject a bit of colour or style. Having a selection of different ties means you can have something at the ready for any eventuality.

Casual Shirt & Jeans

Jeans are the go to casual trouser of choice for the vast majority of people. Blue jeans still remain the most popular but theres nothing wrong with grey, black or something a little more colourful to mix it up a bit. You are going to need a shirt to go with those jeans so a polo shirt or casual button down shirt should also be in your wardrobe.

Every man should have some sportswear in his wardrobe whether he’s sporty or not. Sportswear can be the perfect comfortable clothing for doing work around the home, popping out to the shop in the middle of the night or for just for relaxing on those lazy days off.

These are of course just a handful of the things that will likely be in your wardrobe but they are some of the most important. If you don’t have them you could find yourself needing them when it’s too late! If you think we missed anything particularly important, let us know on our Twitter or Facebook pages!
